PRESS RELEASE: 29/30 August 2019| Misano Official Test

Takaaki Nakagami and his LCR Honda IDEMITSU Team today completed a two-day test in sweltering conditions at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Ahead of the San Marino – Rimini Riviera Grand Prix at the same venue in two weeks’ time, the Japanese rider and the rest of the MotoGP field all got an opportunity to prep their machines for the forthcoming race.

Nakagami had already put in 41 laps of the tricky track on Thursday, before adding another 33 laps on Friday, ending the test with the eighth fastest time overall. Taka’s main focus was trying to get his bike set up perfectly for the race, however he also briefly tested some new rubber for Michelin before returning to the task at hand.

“We have focused our work on the next race here in Misano, which is why it is good to have two days of testing. We worked a lot on the basic set-up of the bike. In terms of track conditions it was hard to find the grip on the first day, and even today on day two it’s still been very warm, but gradually there was more rubber on the track and this helped a lot. ”

“Today was a little better than on Thursday, but we were still working on refining the base set-up. We had some new items to try for Michelin, but whilst we gave it a go, we had to focus our attention on how the bike was working for the race. It hasn’t been easy to find a setting that feels comfortable, but in the end by working hard we have got much closer. It has been so hot, and it takes a lot of energy out of you in these conditions, but as always together with the LCR Honda IDEMITSU Team we have worked together in a great way”
